Neighborhood Goings On—Races Past and Future

in the category: Fitness

A one-miler, a hundred-miler, and a really good cause. These are the people in your neighborhood.

running hard

Many in the Hella Sound family and neighborhood have been kicking major butt in recent days—here's a few notables:

Paul "Crazy Legs" Stofko charged through rain, hail and snow to finish the Leadville Trail 100 with a new personal best of 21:54. Now, to be clear, that's 100 miles, people. One hundred miles. And the time is 21 hours, 54 minutes. 21 hours! I can't think of many things I can do for nearly 22 hours straight, but I'm certain running is definitely not one of them.

On the opposite end of the racing spectrum, British Bulldog Steve Speirs ran a personal best 5:03.35 one-miler at the Strider Miler. That's a whole different discipline, and a very impressive time for a dedicated distance runner.

Big ups to both Paul and Steve! w00t!

Finally, Amy Güth—while out and about on her ScavenTour, has set her sights on the St. Jude's Half-Marathon on December 6th. She's running with her heart for a young family member, as well as all the children St. Jude Children's Hospital helps every day. Give a click and chip in—you'll be helping her help you help yourself by helping others. It all works out karmically.
