Looking for Your Next Challenge?

You've run a marathon—maybe even a couple. Now you're ready for the next challenge. How about running an ultra?

Estes Park is one of the most beautiful parts of the United States—spectacular mountain scenery and wildlife abound. What better place to learn the ins and outs of ultrarunning? And who better to learn from than an exercise physiologist who's run many ultras, including winning the 2007 McNaughton Park 150 Miler?

Introduction to Ultrarunning

Paul Stofko, an expert trainer and experienced ultra runner, is leading this one-of-a-kind training seminar at the Active at Altitude training facility. The flyer I received bills this as a fun, social, coed weekend course for runners who want to learn how to run their first ultra, or run their next one faster. Sounds good! The sessions will cover:

  • Mental Conditioning
  • Strength Training
  • Nutrition
  • Shoes and Apparel

The weekend will include group trail runs with varying durations, pace and terrain, yoga, running theory, and will also provide relaxation time. I believe they will also have massage available, which will probably hit the spot after a day of training.

September in Estes Park

Moderate daytime temperatures and changing aspen leaves are the hallmark of September in Estes Park, making it an ideal destination.
