Links? Okay—I got yer links. I got yer links right here. This week: core conditioning, physiological differences between men and women (and not *those* differences), funny treadmill vids and more wallpapers. Dig in!
A good set of core exercises—possibly familiar to those that have spent a hunk of time in the gym or with a trainer, possibly new to some. "Core" exercises have been *the* topic in fitness and personal training for quite some time—check these out!
Running 4 Women gives the lowdown on Iliotibial Band Syndrome, with some stretch recommendations to help alleviate the pain and problem.
A pretty inspiring post from someone who ran a series of marathons in short succession. His respect for the slower runners is what makes this post a worthwhile read.
More desktop wallpaper images from Runner's World. I only wish they had widescreen dimensions available for us Mac and cinema-dimensioned folk...
A detailed guide to the lipids you hear about most often. It gets pretty deep pretty quickly, but a worthwhile read to expand your knowledge on healthy eating
Whether your goal is to (finally) dislodge yourself from the sofa or top your age group in a large marathon, these 12 points are the foundation for achieving it.
Very cool series of videos from PBS/NOVA on what it takes to run a marathon.
Lookout ladies—this NYTimes article examines the fundamental phsiological differences between men and women, and the implications therein for sports. Protect those joints and ligaments!
Funny round-up of various athletic pursuits and their pros and cons.
Sportsvite, the social site for athletes, has a Running section providing videos, articles and (of course) the opportunity to meet runners. Cool!
These folks produce running and training videos that you can use to improve your form and fitness. Interesting stuff!
Good pointers on what *not* to do with your running form.
Brian Morrissey's blog is great, and am a huge fan of the various online ways of making running more social (Twitter, blogs, etc). Check out his FriendFeed room—a nice new addition to the mix.
Funny little self-assessment quiz to figure out where you fall in the running world.
Some in-depth marathon training information for runners, courtesy of Pete Pfitzinger.
I love this guy's blog—his enthusiasm for San Francisco and the great runs he's found already make me happy to be a fellow runner and San Franciscan.
A fun set of videos from CRN. And sure, having known Dan from OKGO for years now, the #1 vid holds a special place in my heart. But the shrimp may be my favorite...
What do you guys think of these things? On the one hand, I see why they went through the trouble to invent them—earbuds and headphones are problematic for races and safety. But as far as sound quality and sound leakage (everyone around you will hear it), I'm not sure this is the right answer...
A cookbook by runners for runners—a neat idea.
This was ridiculously entertaining. The song, the moves, the judge reactions, the ticket hand-off—awesome. A worthwhile watch (although I'd ignore the adolescent comments at the bottom...)
Let's keep it polite and on topic.
@Spin Diva sounds like you’re working up to a triathalon!
It is perfect that people are able to take the credit loans and that opens up completely new chances.
These are really great links. I like the one with the core workouts because that will be the subject of my next article—Abs, ugh. As for running, one of my goals is to start running…must add running to my routine, then swimming.
