Links for the week: your metabolism, whole grains, stretching and the ugliest pizza ever.

Last Friday we started a new weekly feature, the Friday Finish—Caboose, with the aim of helping you mentally wrap up your week and get started on the weekend. Read the first edition here (#24 meaning "it's the 24th Friday of 2008"). We also published another great post from Paul Stofko about marathon preparation. 'Tis the season, after all.
On a side note, we also wandered around the Czech Republic quite a bit, and discovered some of the most wonderful beers on the planet.
3 calf stretches (2 of which are, unfortunately for my calves, new to me) for the gastrocnemius, soleus and achilles.
I like this question, and the tons of responses they've gotten. A whole lot of people break their run into increments, just as you would with a large, daunting project. Interesting to see what other people do and how to handle the urge to quit.
The lowdown on human metabolism from Melina B. Jampolis, M.D., with the idea of empowering folks that may think their metabolism is out of their control.
A good primer for stretching. Hate the layout, love the exercises. If it works better for you, click & view the Printer Friendly version.
Something a lot of runners are buzzing about on their blogs is this 100 Push-Up Challenge. Into it? Check it out.
One of the craziest things I've ever seen in real life. This church outside of Prague is decorated with the bones of 40,000 people. It made me uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. In the same way the movie Seven made me uncomfortable. But worse. Still, it's an interesting thing that exists in our world.
Okay, this is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
Throw out your Wonderbread and read this article from the Mayo Clinic, one of the premier authorities on health.
A little background on "whole grains", as well as a new suggestion on where to get them and what to do with them.
Want to improve your speed, or just mix things up a bit? Here's a nice little article from Runner's Lounge on "striders".
This photographer had a lot of gall (see second pic on page). I'm surprised she didn't get run over.

Let's keep it polite and on topic.
