Yep, it's Friday—and You Know What That Means
Caboose! How was your week? We had a good one here, and we're looking forward to the weekend.
Sunday breakfast was always a big thing in my household when I was growing up. There's nothing quite like gathering with friends or family on a relaxing day and having an old-fashioned breakfast. It's a luxury we don't always afford ourselves—whether for lack of time, resources or caloric reasons. This weekend, I say screw it! Indulge in a good brunch with people you care about. Check out Yelp for reviews and recommendations. It hasn't let me down yet.

Critically acclaimed and considered to be one of the most important guitar players of the 90s, this week's offering is one of my all-time favorites:

In keeping with the chilled-out brunch motif, this week I offer onto you: Wayne Krantz. Have I talked to you about Wayne Krantz before? If not, my bad; this guy is really an amazing musician, and the trio on this album is 100% top notch. I'll have to admit I didn't embrace this album until the 3rd or 4th listen, but after that I couldn't put it down. When you understand that Krantz' whole style is unique—his hybrid picking technique and unusual chord phrasings under melody—and how it perfectly fills out (or leaves spaces in) each song, you can really appreciate the musicianship and craft of his work. Zach Danziger and Lincoln Goines do more than their duty in the rhythm section, performing mind-blowing accompaniment and compliment to Krantz' contribution and each song's overall composition. Seriously: if you enjoy guitar music and jazz-infused rock at all, this is a must-listen. (And it works really well as interesting background music for somewhat sophisticated yuppie-style dinner parties, I might add.)

I have my first ever triathlon this weekend, and I’m finalizing plans for my Denver-Milwaukee bike ride. Speaking of, if ANYONE knows of people who live in eastern Colo/Western Nebraska, I could use a host or two!
